It’s the only national park in Costa Rica that can be reached either by plane or boat. But, putting this much effort would be worth as the area is covered with incredible biodiversity due to the existence of rainforests, beaches, mangroves, swamps and lagoons. This national park is also a prime nesting area for various types of Turtles including Green sea Turtles, Hawksbill turtles, and Leatherbacks. Going inland along the fresh water, creeks and lagoons, visitors would also be able to find river turtles or the West Indian Manatee.
There are many beaches in the national park but they are not suitable for swimming or surfing because of the high currents. However, this place is best for hiking trails and boat rides along the canals. One can spot monkeys, Kinkajous and sloths in this national park.

This place also attracts a large crowd who generally find small hotels and luxury inns on the outskirts, and also in the hills from where the town can be viewed. These places have come up naturally and are best for close up wildlife viewing.
